INDIA - Australian Mining Mission to visit E-mail

Austrade will make its annual Australian Mining Mission to India in November with company representatives able to meet business contacts and get a first-hand view of the Indian mining sector.

From November 18-22 participants will visit two coal mine sites in eastern India and network with potential customers and partners in New Delhi and Kolkata. They can then stay on in Kolkata for the Global Steel Conference from November 22-24.

Growth in India has received a lot of attention in recent years, with its GDP growing on average 7.5% and expected to increase to 9%.

To sustain such growth rates there is a substantial requirement for infrastructure development, which in turn increases the demand for electricity, steel and cement. To increase production of these key inputs, India needs to improve the productivity and efficiency of its minerals and energy sector.

This growth has opened many opportunities for Australian mining equipment, technology and services (MTS). A number of Australian MTS companies have recently had success in India and Austrade is committed to assisting new mining support companies into this growing market.

Austrade has identified opportunities for open-cut and underground mines in the following areas: Coal washeries, contract mining, roof support and underground mining equipment, mining software, mine management systems, consultancy (exploration), consultancy (mining), niche mining equipment, mine safety, mining training (study tours), and reconditioned mining equipment.
