| Queensland Government trade mission to Indonesia finds success | The Queensland Government organised a mining trade mission to Indonesia in February 2008 to co-incide with the annual OzMine 2008 exhibition.
The trade mission involved 12 Queensland companies that supply equipment and consulting services to the mining industry in Australia and other countries with major mining operations including Indonesia, China, India and Papua New Guinea.
Members of the trade mission supply a range of equipment and consulting services including:specialist fire fighting equipment and accessories for mines, intermediate bulk containers and other flexible packaging for mine logistics,explosion protected mining equipment and collision avoidance equipment to reduce the hazards of operating light vehicles,winches, dredging and mini skip steer loaders;
mineral processing equipment including vibrating screens, centrifuges and wear resistant materials; hydraulics and components; roll over protective structures (ROPS) and falling object protective structures (FOPS) canopies and cabins for vehicles, trucks and heavy equipment;
security solutions involving system design, installation, project management and maintenance; and training and assessment support for vehicle and related operators in the mining industry.
The trade mission included a business forum involving presentations on the Indonesian mining sector by the Indonesian Government, an overview of key supply and logistic issues at a number of major mines and details of human resources issues affecting the mining industry.
Members of the trade mission also participated in OzMine 2008, and a networking function attended by the Australian Ambassador to Indonesia and 100 representatives of the Australian and Indonesian mining industry.
Members of the trade mission also held a large number of meetings with distributors and mining company representatives during and after OzMine 2008 which were organised by the Queensland Government Trade and Investment Office in Indonesia.
The Queensland Government organized the Mining Trade Mission to assist contracts involving many millions of dollars worth of equipment and services to be negotiated and signed.
