SUPPLIER NEWS - Gemcom Mongolia scholarship recipient
Mining software provider Gemcom has announced its latest recipient for the Mongolian Student Sponsorship Program. Geology student Badral Narankhuu from the Mongolian University of Science and Technology has been chosen for the two year scholarship which will cover all financial obligations.
The company has partnered with the university in this initiative and has extended the sponsorship to include geology students in addition to engineering. By assisting students with their school and book fees as well as living expenses during their study, Gemcom says recipients can concentrate fully on their academic goals. The company will also provide technical mentorship and internship opportunities during the term.
“Gemcom is delighted to be able to give something back to the mining community of Mongolia – a key driver in the ongoing development of the country,” says Gemcom’s senior vice president Andrew Pyne.
“Our hope is that by assisting young students they will be able to achieve more in their academic career than they would otherwise be able to and in turn become a valuable contributor to the mining industry.”
The Mongolian University of Science and Technology’s director of the Geology and Petroleum school, Dr Oyun Demchig, says the university is pleased to be partnering Gemcom in the scholarship program.
“By sponsoring students Gemcom is helping them to dedicate themselves more fully to their studies. This, combined with exposure to Gemcom’s experience, mentorship and networking opportunities, will ensure sponsored students are well prepared for a successful future in the mineral resources and mining industry,” Dr Oyun Demchig said.
