EVENTS - Mining & Engineering Indonesia 2012
Reed Exhibitions has launched the program for the 2012 Mining & Engineering Indonesia conference from October 10-12. The event will be held at Jakarta’s Convention Centre, creating a business platform dedicated to enable international suppliers of mining equipment and services to meet mine owners, operators and managers from Indonesia and other countries including Thailand, the Philippines and Malaysia.
Indonesia’s economy is being boosted by the growing mining sector, with analysts predicting an average 11% annual growth rate from its 2010 US$32 billion value during the next three years. The country’s tin, nickel and coal mining industries and their abundant reserves are the three sectors showing the strongest growth.
Reed Exhibitions’ managing director Michelle Lim says the 2012 event will give delegates an opportunity to address key current challenges and showcase the latest technologies for the Indonesian mining industry.
“M&E Indonesia 2012 aims to tap on this dynamic growth, creating an opportunity for international suppliers to gain a foothold and to showcase and introduce sustainable mining methodologies into Indonesia. At the same time, M&E Indonesia 2012 aims to provide a conducive environment for Indonesian mining players to network and forge business partnerships with these international suppliers,” she says.
Reed says feedback from the mining industry indicated a need for a dedicated and professional mining event and the desire to connect with more international suppliers. The 2012 event aims to bring in international participants from Canada, China, Germany, India, Singapore, USA and more than 100 Australian companies have expressed interest in participating.
Reed Exhibitions has also announced it will collaborate with the Indonesian Mining Association (IMA) to organize the 2012 edition of the Asia Pacific Mining Conference alongside the trade exhibition. IMA’s executive director Ir Syahrir AB says he is pleased to partner with Quad MICE Management and Reed Exhibitions to produce a world-class prestigious exhibition and conference for the Indonesia mining industry.
“With the latest regulations in place, there is an urgent need for the local industry to learn and step-up the processing of raw materials. Such challenges and the rising business opportunities for smelting/processing, barging/transport/infrastructure and power/energy sectors will be addressed at the event,” he says.
