GRAPHITE - Scoping study at Koppio-Kookaburra Gully

Lincoln Minerals has appointed consultants to undertake a scoping study at its Koppio-Kookaburra Gully graphite project in South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula. The study will estimate capital, maintenance and operating costs for one or more mines at the Koppio and Kookaburra targets which would feed into a central processing ore beneficiation plant.

Estimates for the processing plant, civil works, water and electrical power will also be included in the study which is due for completion by early September.

Aerial electromagnetic (EM) surveys were completed across the areas in the southern part of the Eyre Peninsula in July, and data from these surveys will be used to identify additional drill and exploration targets at the sites.

The Koppio-Kookaburra Gully project area is 35km north of Port Lincoln and hosts a number of historic graphite deposits and prospects including the former Koppio graphite mine. Flake graphite samples from both sites have been assayed at grades up to 32% total graphitic carbon (TGC).

Lincoln says the inferred resource estimates at both targets are equal to or better than many operating graphite mines across the world. Koppio hosts an inferred 57,000 tonnes @ 13.1% carbon and Kookaburra Gully has 880,000 inferred tonnes @ 11.5% carbon.

The company’s managing director John Parker says historical metallurgical test work commissioned by Pancontinental Mining showed Kookaburra Gully’s mineralization was readily amenable to concentration by metallurgical processes including size and gravity classification and flotation.
