CONFERENCES - Ensuring safety in mining
The Measuring & Managing Safety in Mining conference in Perth, Western Australia (WA), later this month will help those involved in the mining industry meet productivity demands through an organizational culture of safety.
The conference will be on June 29 and 30 at the Novotel Perth Langley with The ASIA Miner pleased to offer readers a 10% discount off the registration price by quoting CC*ASIAMINER in the registration process at www.safetyinmining.com or when phoning 1300 316 882.
Measuring & Managing Safety in Mining will enable participants to hear industry-leading KPIs to proactively monitor safety processes, reducing the likelihood of incidents.
Other benefits include the discovery of practical strategies to cultivate an organizational culture of safety and develop safety leadership within line management; acquiring information on the harmonization of OHS frameworks to be prepared to adopt the changes required for organisations; and uncovering tips and tools to implement a proactive management plan to build greater resiliency in the face of natural disasters.
As the mining industry prospers, meeting increasing production demands without losing focus on safety is a priority to ensure site sustainability. Achieving this long-term sustainability increases production and reduces costs in the long-run.
Combining effective safety training with processes that have embedded safety initiatives will ensure both awareness of safety policies and an understanding of its importance, empowering organizations to move from compliance to a safety culture of enthusiastic participation.
Speakers will include National Mine Safety Framework Steering Group chairman Clive Brown, Rio Tinto Iron Ore's Pilbara Operations president Greg Lilleyman, WA Department for Mines and Petroleum chief mining engineer Simon Ridge, Minerals Council of Australia assistant director of health and safety Megan Davison, NRW Civil and Mining Contracting's HSE manager Will Rowan-Robinson and Chevron's health and safety advisor, Wheatstone Project, Ed Weston.
There will also be presentations from Worksafe WA, Central Queensland University, Norton Rose, the University of Queensland, the CSIRO and SIWA Limited.
