In addition to his current responsibilities of president and director Michael Hawkins has been appointed chief executive officer of East Asia Minerals.

The change has come with Darren Pylot stepping aside from the role of interim chief executive officer. He continues as chairman of the Board.

Lionel Martin, previously vice-president business development, has been appointed chief operating officer and the company is in the final stages of employing a new vice-president exploration.

Michael Hawkins joined East Asia Minerals in 2005, serving as vice-president exploration until April 2007 when he assumed the roles of president and director. He has 27 years of diversified exploration and business experience in Asia, North America and Latin America and before joining East Asia Minerals he held senior positions as Mongolia country manager for AngloGold Ashanti and chief geologist for Highlands Pacific.

Lionel Martin joined East Asia Minerals in 2005. He has 27 years of diversified exploration and business experience in Asia, North America and Africa. He started his career with Eldorado Nuclear Limited (Cameco Corporation), following which he held increasingly senior roles with Noranda Inc.
