Additional drilling at Westgold Resources’ Explorer 108 zinc-lead-silver prospect in the Northern Territory has extended the strike length of mineralization. Strike length is now 500 metres and the results have continued to confirm significant thicknesses of mineralization.
Among the significant intercepts at include: 8m from 475m @ 8.9% zinc, 4.2% lead, 23.9 grams/tonne silver and 0.4% copper from 475m; 25m from 422m at 2.1% zinc, 1.2% lead and 31.3 grams/tonne silver; and 60m from 328m at 3.4% zinc, 1.6% lead and 31.4 grams/tonne silver, including 5m from 349m @ 6.3% zinc, 3.0% lead and 43.6 grams/tonne silver, and 8m from 379m @ 7.7% zinc, 3.6% lead and 39.9 grams/tonne silver. The new results confirm the presence of a large hydrothermal system extending over a continuous 500 metres of strike length with the mineralization remaining open. The company is awaiting assay results from another vertical drill hole and once final assays are received, work will begin on incorporating all the results into a maiden resource estimate. This resource estimate will form the basis of a preliminary economic scoping study during the second quarter and will be used to determine where new drilling will provide the greatest impact to the future economics of the deposit. Drilling is scheduled to resume in March after the completion of the wet season at Westgold’s highly prospective Rover 1 copper-gold prospect where historical intersections provide strong evidence of high grade gold and copper mineralization as seen in typical Tennant Creek ore bodies like the large Warrego Mine. The Warrego Mine produced more than 1.4 million ounces of gold and 130,000 tonnes of copper. www.westgold.com.au |
