INDONESIA - High grade gold at Aceh projects E-mail

East Asia Minerals has encountered more surface, high-grade epithermal gold at its Abong and Collins projects in Aceh Province, North Sumatra, Indonesia.

At the Abong area of the Barisan property the high grades were identified at the Fikri and Bintang prospects with the company also encouraged by the Collins results at the Takengon property.

Several new trenches with exceptional gold mineralization up to 11.28 grams/tonne gold over 11 metres have been uncovered.

This result was recorded at Fikri, which also returned 8.17 grams/tonne gold over 18m and 9.08 grams/tonne over 8m. Previously the company reported up to 4.75 grams/tonne gold over 16metres.

The Fikri mineralization is along structures and in collapsed breccias within silicified siltstone, dirty limestone and mudstones along the main Abong Area corridor. Detailed mapping of these newly discovered areas has outlined a strongly sheeted and shattered silicified fine siltstone developed between a south-west dipping fault on the west, and a steep almost vertical north-south fault on the east.

An initial 4 metre channel sample across the north-south fault averaged 13.9 grams/tonne gold. This was extended in both directions for a 16m channel sample across the north-south fault and sheeted fracture zone that averaged 11.28 grams/tonne gold. The samples terminated in mineralization on both ends and will be extended to cover the whole zone.

At Bintang additional trenching encountered 3.54 grams/tonne gold over 12 metres, 2.70 grams/tonne over 8 metres and 3.07 grams/tonne over 6m. Previously the company had reported up to 12.11 grams/tonne over 8 metres and 5.84 grams/tonne over 17 metres. The mineralization is similar to Fikri, occurring in oxidized collapse breccias developed along the main Abong Area corridor.

At the Collins Prospect, 80km north-east of Abong, sampling of the epithermal quartz veins to better understand the gold paragenesis within several generations of quartz veining has been completed. Diamond sawn channels have returned spectacular gold assays including 11m at 22.20 grams/tonne gold and 11 metres at 14.99 grams/tonne. Exploration is ongoing, with plans to drill the high grade epithermal gold targets this year.

East Asia Minerals’ president and CEO Michael Hawkins says: "We are very encouraged that our seasoned epithermal/porphyry exploration teams continue to uncover widespread high-grade gold at the Aceh Properties.

We have completed the first three drill holes of our planned Abong area program and are pleased to report that the visual descriptions confirm that our drill holes encountered their gold mineralized targets."
