Mining at Fox Resources Radio Hill Project in Western Australia has intersected unexpected massive nickel and copper sulphides up to 4 metres thick.
Reserves at the Radio hill underground mine, 35km south of Karratha, comprise the C, D and F zones with production results from F zone, in particular, being better than expected. Mining of the last development level of this zone produced the unexpected results. Assays of massive sulphide samples taken from this level averaged 4.71% nickel and 9.06% copper. The F zone is now expected to continue beyond this level where, based on previous drilling, the ore zone was believed to have ended. Mining yields from Radio Hill have also increased with 43% more nickel and 30% more copper metal mined due to nickel and copper grades being significantly higher than expected compared to the grades predicted in the independent Feasibility Study. Milling operations also continue to perform above budget. An estimated bulk concentrate shipment of 5408 wmt, comprising of a provision estimate of 241 tonnes of nickel and 363 tonnes of contained copper metal left the port of Dampier in early January with an estimated value to Fox of approximately $6.5 million. Exploration is continuing at the Ruth Well and Sholl B2 nickel projects, both within close proximity to Radio Hill. At Ruth Well, 15km north of the Radio Hill treatment plant drilling of the EM target Grandport has been completed with the diamond drill rig now targeting the Tamarin EM conductor and then Port Louis where the EM conductors lie in fold closures between 200-350m below surface. At Sholl B2, 5km north-east of Radio Hill, diamond drilling deviated above and missed the EM conductor at the southern end of the large ore body. The hole was cased and Down Hole EM is planned to better define the conductor plate before drilling resumes to test the southern extension for massive nickel sulphides. www.foxresources.com.au |
