WOMEN IN MINING - Single port of call for networking needs E-mail

The Women in Mining Community Portal has built and launched the global Women in Mining website - www.womeninmining.net

The portal, dedicated to all professional women in the natural resources sector, aims to be the first stop for news, events, seminars, jobs, who's who, contacts, education in mining, useful links, databank of topical articles and more.

It is not designed to compete with established news services and journals but aims to offer women practical information on networking opportunities, business synergies, further education, job opportunities, a forum to exchange views and find service providers. It will centre on two main pillars - information and business opportunities.

The portal will provide a platform for all Women in Mining groups worldwide to communicate with each other and build relationships regardless of where they are based. In addition, it will endeavour to regroup all information in one place.

Some of the sponsors of the new site include the Association of Mining Analysts and Celtic Resources Holdings.

Women in Mining Community Portal founder and director Barbara Dischinger says: "This is my contribution to the enhancement of women's knowledge and networking capabilities as well as raising the profile of women within this industry about which I am passionate."

Celtic Resources general manager Kate Dexter-Smith says: "Celtic Resources Holdings is pleased to support the Women in Mining Community Portal. Having been a woman in mining for over five years I understand the need for such an innovative portal. I wish it lots of success in the future."

Association of Mining Analysts chair Tony Mahalski says: "The membership of the AMA is pleased to be associated with, and to sponsor, Women in Mining Community Portal. Barbara Dischinger has been creative in both the commercial field of women in mining but also in providing a platform for women's groups worldwide. This initiative is both necessary and desirable."
