Drilling at TNG"s Manbarrum Zinc-Lead-Silver Project in the Northern Territory has confirmed the presence of an extensive zone of new mineralization.
RC drilling completed last year at the Djibitgun Prospect, 17km north-east of the company's Sandy Creek resource, confirmed mineralization extending over a strike length of at least 1km and with a minimum width of 200 metres.
TNG managing director Neil Biddle says: 'Significantly, the mineralization has not been closed off on several drill traverses ' which indicates the potential to continue to extend the deposit with further drilling. The results we have received indicate the potential to delineate a sizeable zinc-lead-silver deposit at Djibitgun alongside the existing resource at Sandy Creek.'
The drilling returned best intersections of 9m @ 2.64% zinc-lead and 53.22 grams/tonne silver, 10m @ 8.75% zinc-lead and 61.30 grams/tonne silver, 5m @ 3.86% zinc-lead and 19.20 grams/tonne silver, and 7m @ 3.22% zinc-lead and 12.57 grams/tonne silver.
Neil Biddle says the latest results provide further strong confirmation of TNG's geological model for the Manbarrum Project to host multiple large tonnage deposits typical of Mississippi Valley Type (MVT) base metal deposits in Missouri, USA and parts of Irish Style MVT deposits.
'Work will begin shortly on an initial resource estimate for Djibitgun as we enter an important period for the company with the resource upgrade on the Sandy Creek deposit nearing completion.'
The current resource estimate for Sandy Creek, which covers a deposit strike length of 480 metres, comprises 10.5 million tonnes grading 3.4% zinc equivalent and 5.7grams/tonne silver.
Previous exploration at Manbarrum by companies including Aquitaine, BHP and Delta Gold focused on the Sandy Creek Main Zone. However, the project, which is 70km north-east of Kununurra, covers a 50km strike length of the highly prospective eastern Bonaparte Basin Shelf Margin.
