INDONESIA - Newmont sets up restoration fund |

Newmont subsidiary PT Newmont Minahasa Ray (NMR) has agreed to provide a fund of US$30 million for post-mining rehabilitation work in Indonesia.
The fund is further evidence of the company"s commitment to indigenous peoples in the region and has been welcomed by the Indonesian Government.
Indonesia 's coordinating minister for People's Welfare Aburizal Bakrie says: "With this agreement, we have emphasized on the interests of the people and demonstrated our commitment on protecting the environment properly."
