THAILAND - Commitment to nuclear power E-mail

Thailand"s Electricity Generating Authority plans to build a 4000 MWe nuclear power plant. The strategy is part of Thailand"s plans to cut its reliance on gas.

Construction will start in 2015 with operation expected from 2020. The capital cost is expected to be US$6 billion and electricity cost about US6 cents/kWh, slightly less than coal.
