The ASIA Miner editor Yolanda Torrisi will be attending the Metal Mining North East Asia Conference in Shanghai from June 6-8 at the Sofitel Jin Jiang Oriental.

The second annual Metal Mining North East Asia Conference will focus on the promising metal mining market of North-East Asia with special attention given to the capital market and how it can be used for mine project financing.

The 2006 conference attracted around 300 participants and organisers are confident this year will be even bigger.

The emerging markets, especially China, Indonesia, Mongolia, Russia, Vietnam and Kazakhstan, are very active and this attracts considerable attention from mining funding and investment interests around the world. Although these markets are still elusive, their great potential ensures growing overseas investment.

The conference will give participants an insight into the new era of capital operation of mining in Asia, will assess the different opportunities in the key emerging mining markets and will help interpreting the risks of investing in overseas mineral resource.

It will also examine the growing influence of China in the precious metals pricing sector, will look at ways to maximize ROI and avoid pitfalls in mining project transactions, and how to optimize mineral development to avoid resource wasting and to secure sustainability.
