URANIUM - Air survey identifies new targets E-mail

Airborne surveys have identified new targets for sedimentary uranium deposits at Pegasus Metals" three uranium projects in the Ashburton-Gascoyne region of Western Australia.

The surveys were carried out by Fugro Airborne Surveys over the Pegasus projects at Hooley, Horse Well and Gifford Creek.

The three airborne surveys, totalling 5626 line kilometres, were flown at 50 metre line spacing and a nominal flying height of 40 metres. Radiometric data was processed by Fugro to equivalent ground concentrations of potassium, thorium and uranium using calibrations derived for regional government surveys.

Pegasus executive director Peter Andrews says the company is encouraged by the tenor of the uranium anomalies, given the 35 metre to 40 metre diameter of the 'footprint' from which the radiometric data has been collected by the aircraft.

He says the Pegasus' geological team is now undertaking field validation of target areas through a program of mapping, ground spectrometer and geochemical surveys. A full interpretation of the geophysical survey by Pegasus' geophysical consultant Dr Philip Hawke is also being carried out.
