CHINA – Beiya mineralization extended |
|
Drilling at Asia Now Resources’ Beiya North target adjacent to the operating open-pit Beiya Gold Mine has extended gold/silver mineralization. Beiya is the largest gold mine in Yunnan Province with annual production capacity of 100,000 ounces. The mine is being expanded to double current production. Six of seven holes drilled in the latest program intersected significant gold/silver mineralization. All holes were drilled vertically, each stepping out 80 to 160 metres from others, and have expanded the main gold-silver zone by 120 metres. One hole intersected a 270 metre mineralized zone including 78.5 metres @ 0.65 grams/tonne gold, 30 grams/tonne silver and 0.26% copper; 13.5 metres @ 1.49 grams/tonne gold and 0.71% lead; 3.4 metres @ 1.08 grams/tonne gold, 94.7 grams/tonne silver and 1.86% copper; and 7.3 metres @ 2.35 grams/tonne gold, 51.5 grams/tonne silver and 0.48% copper. Another hole intersected 20.6 metres @ 1.48 grams/tonne gold, 69.2 grams/tonne silver and 5.2% combined lead and zinc; and 1.5 metres @ 10.3 grams/tonne gold, 220 grams/tonne silver and 15.5% combined lead and zinc. Another intersected 7.6 metres @ 4.75 grams/tonne gold and 56.2 grams/tonne silver; and 0.48 metres at 11.0 grams/tonne gold, 234 grams/tonne silver and 25.5% combined lead and zinc. Another intersected 4.6 metres @ 1.55 grams/tonne gold, 218.3 grams/tonne silver and 9.5% combined lead and zinc; and1.5 metres @ 2.20 grams/tonne gold, 413 grams/tonne silver and 14.3% combined lead and zinc. Intersections from another two holes includes 1.5 metres @ 0.46 grams/tonne gold, 155 grams/tonne silver and 17.4% combined lead and zinc; and 4.2 metres @ 1.72 grams/tonne gold, 37.5 grams/tonne silver and 6.4% combined lead and zinc. The main gold-silver zone has now been confirmed to extend at least 780 metres from the mining lease of the open-pit Beiya Gold Mine, and is open to the north and west on Asia Now's property. All the mineralization zones intersected so far are in the oxidized zone that locally extends below 450 meters from surface. Asia Now's President, Kaihui Yang, says: "We are very pleased with the drilling results in 2009, particularly the discovery of a mineralized zone up to 270 meter drill intercept at Beiya North. This is within the previously-identified 13km by 2km gold belt with potential for multiple large mineralization systems including the producing mine. “We are compiling the drilling, geophysical and geological data and planning drilling program with the aim of defining the economic resource of the main gold zone. The program is meeting expectations." www.asianow.ca
