CONFERENCES – Roundtable discussion on sustainable mining in China |
A roundtable discussion on challenges facing the sustainable development of mining in China will be an important component of the 2008 China Nonferrous Metals Mining Forum in Nanning, Guangxi Province between April 15 and 19.
The discussion on April 16 is being organized by CNIA and CIMG, and will bring together domestic and foreign companies as well as government officials. They will discuss the challenges facing the implementation of CSR and sustainable mining in China. The discussion will be held from 2pm to 5pm and the chairmen will be Nigel Clark from CIMG and Pan Wenju from CNIA. The CIMG Secretariat is seeking expressions of interest from members who may like to present at the roundtable. The overall forum will focus on South Western China as an important production and reservation base for the nation's nonferrous metals and gold mineral resources. The region now accounts for more than half of the total reserves and has become the primary provider of China's nonferrous metals raw materials. The forum in the past has been well attended with many seminar sessions on mining development and other potential projects. www.cimg.org.cn |
