The ASIA Miner continues to plot skywards E-mail

It"s been an active week on stock markets with many mining and resource companies getting hit by last week"s correction … And for The ASIA Miner weekly electronic news service it"s been just as active a week, but our graph plotting is heading upwards and not downwards. Thank you to all our readers who responded and replied so enthusiastically to the launch of this weekly web-based news service. We intend to continue to grow this news service and The ASIA Miner magazine.

I attended a Melbourne Mining Club series of talks on Tuesday night where three junior exploration companies presented their projects to an audience of some 100 interested industry staffers from miners, bankers and lawyers. Most commented on the day's stock market events, but all were powering and confident about the future of the mineral sector. In fact, in my view, there probably has been no other time than in the last five years, that every day I notice a new company name on the list of junior miners and explorers and there seems little evidence to show there has been a dampening of the enthusiasm or continuing emergence of new junior mining hopefuls.

On another note, I was particularly buoyed by the comments of an industry colleague at this same event who has noted The ASIA Miner's high profile at many mining and conference events from Melbourne to Manila . We will continue to be a high profile magazine and news service and will be highly visible at all major conferences and mining industry events around the Asia Pacific and PDAC in Canada .

We've introduced a new section this week - Movers and Shakers which lists any recent, new industry appointments as we receive them. In the next few weeks we will begin a Quotable Quotes section. So anything humorous you hear around the sites, in the mining offices and short story grabs about industry activities, please send them to news@asiaminer.com This new section will be called: The Said and Grab (SAG) Mill … any advances on that title and I'm keen to hear them.

Enjoy this week's news instalment. Please feel welcome to drop us a line anytime about your news or if there is something you want more of, less of, like or dislike. I welcome all your comments.

Happy reading
