BASE METALS - Excellent Hellyer drill results E-mail

Bass Metals has had excellent results from drilling at the Southern Barite Zone, which is part of the Hellyer Mine base metals project in Tasmania.

A diamond drill hole along strike from the historic Hellyer Mine has intersected 57.5 metres at 9.2% zinc, 4.7% lead, 94 grams/tonne silver and 2.89 grams/tonne gold, including 11.65 metres at 13.8 % zinc, 8.3% lead, 144 grams/tonne silver and 3.2 grams/tonne gold and 4.5 metres at 21% zinc, 9.7% lead, 160 grams/tonne silver and 2.4 grams/tonne gold.

The intersection occurs within 175 metres of surface and significantly increases the potential of the area to host high grade massive sulphide lenses as indicated by wide spaced, high grade historic drill intercepts.

The Southern Barite Zone is a large, un-mined, barite-rich zone developed at the Hellyer ore position to the south of the Hellyer ore body. The zone has previously been interpreted as flat lying extending at least 300 metres north-south, up to 150 metres east-west and up to 30 metres thick, and has been affected by subsequent folding and faulting. The top of the zone lies about 150 metres below the surface.

The intersection indicates a potentially thick zone of high grade massive sulphide mineralization open vertically and to the north and south for at least 75 metres.

Follow-up drilling is planned after the company has completed geological assessment of the other high grade intercepts from historic drilling.
