Marengo has appointed David Swain of Swain Associates to manage the Yandera pre-feasibility study on the Yandera Project. The study will include preliminary mine design and open pit optimisation, metallurgical testwork, plant flowsheet design and throughput options with capital and operating cost estimates. A number of these activities have started.

David Swain is a mining engineer, with extensive experience in this role, having been involved in projects in Africa (Zambian Copper Belt), Western Australia (Goldsworthy) and Tasmania , as well as holding senior positions with Bougainville Copper Limited from 1973 to 1980.

New BHP Billiton stainless steel materials president

Jimmy Wilson has been appointed BHP Billiton stainless steel materials customer sector group president .

Jimmy Wilson will be responsible for all aspects of BHP Billiton's stainless steel materials businesses, including strategy, operations, and delivering growth within our strategic framework.

Jimmy Wilson will replace Chris Pointon, who has announced his retirement. Jimmy Wilson will be located in Perth , Australia , and will join BHP Billiton's executive committee.

Jimmy Wilson has extensive experience in the metals and mining industry and before this appointment was president and chief operating officer of Nickel West. In this role, he successfully managed the integration of the former WMC nickel assets into BHP Billiton. Roles held before this include Samancor Chrome president and chief operating officer and Bayside Aluminium general manager.

Marcelo Bastos will become Nickel West president and chief operating officer.
