BHP Billiton executive president and member of the Office of the chief executive and the BHP Board of Directors Mike Salamon has retired from the company after 21 years service.
Mike Salamon was a member of the Board of Directors of Billiton Plc and a key player in the 2001 merger between BHP and Billiton. In 2004 he was appointed group president non-ferrous materials with responsibility for BHP Billiton's aluminium, base metals and stainless steel materials customer sector groups. He became executive president of BHP Billiton in early 2006 with responsibility for a range of functions including marketing, strategy and business development, health, safety and environment, sustainable development, exploration and technology as well as several country offices. Mike Salamon's responsibilities will be allocated to existing members of the office of the fhief executive. Exploration and technology will report to Marcus Randolph; health, safety and environment, sustainable development and the China office will report to Chris Lynch; South Africa and Russia will report to Marius Kloppers; and, strategy and business development and marketing will both report directly to the CEO. Two new directors for Mindoro board Mindoro Resources has appointed Doug Frondall and Robert Sarcher, MBA, to the board of directors. Doug Frondall is a chartered accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Certified Management Consultant and Certified Valuation Analyst with 16 years of experience in public practice. He has been a partner with Virtus Group LLP in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan since 1993 and is currently CEO of Virtus. Robert Sarcher is known for starting financial.de in 1996, one of the first German websites providing continuous financial news for private investors over the internet. Today, financial.de is one of the leading independent financial news sources in Germany. He founded financial.de.AG in 1998, providing investor relations services to German and foreign companies. Robert Sarcher has a particular expertise in financial communication with a focus on communication of capital market transactions, capital increases and crisis communication. Since 2003, his focus has increasingly shifted to assisting companies involved in the resource and energy sector.
