PRODUCTS - Dassault Systèmes introduces GEOVIA GEMS 6.6

Dassault Systèmes has introduced the latest version of GEMS from GEOVIA, formerly known as Gemcom Software prior to its acquisition in 2012. GEMS provides collaborative geology and mine planning capabilities that support cross-functional teams involved in exploration, modelling, mine design, long-term planning, and production scheduling. With more mines moving underground, GEMS 6.6 introduces a new ramp design tool and other enhancements for underground mine planners.

PRODUCTS - GEOVIA InSite 4.4 released

Dassault Systèmes has released the latest version of the InSite mine production management and reconciliation software from GEOVIA, formerly known as Gemcom Software prior to its acquisition in 2012. GEOVIA says InSite delivers advanced reconciliation tools to analyse the variance between planned and actual production, helping mines improve their operational efficiency, lower costs and gain greater confidence in their production data, resulting in better planning decisions.

REGULATIONS - Restoration of ABCC ‘positive’ for investment

Resource industry employer group Australian Mines and Metals Association (AMMA) says the Federal Coalition Government’s legislative bill to restore the Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC) is a positive move that will help secure the $620 billion of new resource projects in Australia’s investment pipeline.

SILVER-LEAD-ZINC - EPA recommends Sorby Hills’ approval

The Western Australian office of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has recommended that the Minister for Environment approve the development of KBL Mining’s Sorby Hills Silver-Lead-Zinc Project. The company has scheduled the construction phase for mid-2014 with operations around 12 months later.
