Kalimantan Gold’s KSK joint venture has ended after Freeport-McMoRan withdrew from the copper project. Kalimantan Gold will regain 100% of the KSK CoW as of January 31. 1

PAKISTAN - Chinese to establish metal plant

A Chinese mining firm will establish a metal processing unit in Risalpur, northern Pakistan, with an initial investment of US$30 million. Copper sulphite, copper oxide, lead, silver, gold, zinc and antimony metals used in electronics are expected to be exploited in the Upper and Lower Dir, Chitral, Kohistan and Gilgit and Waziristan areas and transported to the factory for purification.  1

Recent announcements from the Kyrgyz Republic Government have added to Celsius Coal Limited’s coal transport and market access options. The Government has announced that Chinese funding of US$400 million is available for construction of the first phase of a new north-south road transport route.

INDIA - Sesa Goa resumes Karnataka operations

Sesa Sterlite Limited, formerly Sesa Goa, has received permission from the Honourable Supreme Court appointed Monitoring Committee to resume mining at its Karnataka iron ore mine. Accordingly, the company commenced mining operations in late December in accordance with stipulated conditions.
