Rio Tinto has formed a mineral exploration collaborative partnership with China’s Minmetals.
The announcement follows the June signing of a Heads of Agreement on global exploration collaboration, which set out the principles and framework for both parties to conduct potential collaboration in mineral exploration.
According to Rio, the signing of the latest agreement represents a significant step forward in the cooperative approach taken by both companies in their international minerals exploration partnership.
Meanwhile, Rio has strengthened its partnership with China’s Tsinghua University, extending the tenure of their joint research centre for resources, energy and sustainable development.
Rio Tinto and Tsinghua University established the joint research centre in 2012 to bring together leading experts from China and around the world to study, generate and share ideas and best practice for sustainable development.
