Following closure of the IBEX transaction, Kincora Copper has appointed Peter Leaman as senior vice-president of Exploration and John Holliday as chairman of the newly formed Technical Committee.

Asiamet Resources has announced several changes. Chief executive officer and vice chairmanTony Manini is now executive chairman while Peter Bird has joined the company as CEO and has been appointed vice chairman. Previous chairman Peter Pollardcontinues as a non-executive director.

BY acquiring Newcrest Mining subsidiary, Newcrest New Zealand Exploration, New Talisman Gold Mines has secured the remaining 80% of the Rahu Gold Project that it did not already own. New Talisman is now evaluating options to fast-track the North Island exploration project having acquired all geological and site targeting data and logging.

Greatland Gold appointed a new chief executive, Shaun Day, who will replace Gervaise Heddle in the role. Day has filled various leadership positions across mining and infrastructure during the past 20 years, having served as chief financial officer for companies including Northern Star Resources, Sakari Resources, PTT Company, Straits Resources (now Aeris Resources) and Amcom Telecom.

Angkor Gold Corp has appointed Dennis Ouellette as vice president - exploration. He joined Angkor at the beginning of 2017 as senior geologist and became the company’s manager of exploration in April 2017.

Former Australian High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea Ian Kemish has been appointed executive general manager of public affairs and social governancefor Newcrest Mining. He was most recently senior director of Asia Pacific external affairs at ExxonMobil.

Griffin Mining has appointed Michael Hulmes as general manager of the Caijiaying Mine in China. He has more than 30 years’ experience in the mining industry having held senior management roles in Australia, Portugal, Papua New Guinea and Saudi Arabia.

Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC) CEO Simon Bennison will retire from the role in August. He has served as CEO since 2008 and AMEC president Will Robinson says he has made a remarkable contribution to the organisation.
