Global industrial equipment auctioneer company Ritchie Bros has opened a new auction building at Geelong, Victoria. The grand opening of the new site was held on Tuesday March 19, with local dignitaries attending. The 2489 square metre site hosted more than 800 pieces of heavy equipment and trucks which were sold to the highest bidders on the day.
Ritchie Bros sales vice president Warwick Mackrell says, “We have been conducting auctions in Geelong since 2009 and are proud to offer our customers a new state-of-the-art auction facility.
“The site was made with the purpose of making it as easy as possible for contractors to buy and sell equipment locally, across all of Australia and to markets around the world from this one location. And, as with all our unreserved auctions, we are open to the public so we invite everyone to come and check out the auction and the great selection of featured equipment.”
The new Geelong auction site is on O’Briens Road, less than an hour’s drive west of Melbourne, and just off the Princes Highway. The building consists of a registration area, a 670-seat main auction theatre where items are brought over a ramp in front of the seated crowd while being sold. There is also a 500-seat capacity virtual theatre, where items are shown on a screen while being sold.
“Equipment highlights in the auction included hydraulic excavators, crawler tractors, wheel loaders, articulated dump trucks and much more,” says Warwick Mackrell.
Ritchie Bros is the world’s largest seller of used equipment for the construction, transportation, agricultural, material handling, energy, mining, forestry, marine and other industries.
The company prides itself on its ability to make it easy for the world’s builders to buy and sell equipment with confidence, conducting hundreds of unreserved public auctions each year, selling more equipment to on-site and online bidders than any other company in the world.
The company also operates an online marketplace through Ritchie Bros EquipmentOne and a range of value-added services, including equipment financing for customers via Ritchie Bros Financial Services. The company has over 110 locations in more than 25 countries, including 44 auction sites worldwide.
