Mining technology developer Maptek has appointed the first suppliers of its Vulcan geological modelling and mine planning software in Mongolia and India. The company says the move into these two countries is a crucial step in delivering improved support to Vulcan users.

It is the first permanent presence for Maptek in Mongolia, which will ultimately increase access to the latest technology for the country’s mining industry.

“Maptek has the best products, and we are committed to delivering the best technical support and services for our customers in all regions,” says Maptek’s Australasia/Pacific general manager Peter Johnson. “Our technical services teams from our Adelaide, Perth, Sydney and Denver offices have been travelling to Mongolia to roll out and support Vulcan installations.

“While our staff are experienced in training users on remote sites, our new relationship with Information Technology Experts LLC in Mongolia will deliver better response times, closer day to day interaction and local language support to our customers in Mongolia,” he adds.

The company says India is another region with significant areas of natural resources yet to be explored, in which miners are seeking better technical capability to meet demands in the local industry. Maptek has signed an agreement with Sumeru Cooee Dustbloc to deliver the Vulcan geological modelling and mine planning software to the Indian mining industry.

Sumeru’s managing director SC Hada says, “We have been associated with Indian mining for more than 20 years. We look forward to bringing Vulcan to every mining company across India to improve their efficiency and profitability by optimizing their operations.”

Maptek is a provider of innovative software, hardware and services for the mining industry. Its products cover the complete mining cycle from exploration to reclamation and are used at more than 1200 sites across 60 countries.

Maptek Vulcan is an integrated hardware and software system for 3D laser scanning, surveying and imaging. Its BlastLogic program provides intelligent 3D drill hole validation and load design software, while the Eureka brand features an interactive 3D environment for visualizing and interpreting geophysical and seismic data.
