Xinjiang Xinxin Mining aims to boost refined copper output by 15 times in the second half of 2014. The start-up of a new smelter is expected to result in the company increasing production from 3830 tonnes in the first half of the year to 60,280 tonnes.

The new smelter operated by subsidiary Xinjiang Wuxin Copper started up on June 1 and has an annual capacity of 100,000 tonnes.

The forecast second half copper output will comprise an estimated 56,775 tonnes from Wuxin and 3505 tonnes from its Fukang refinery.

Hong Kong-listed Xinxin has established a nickel production target for the second half of 5703 tonnes, 8% more than for the first half of 2014.
