Eight people trapped in an illegal gold mine on the Indonesian island of Java are feared dead, reported news agency AFP.
A reported 116 non-coal mines in the northeastern province of Liaoning, China, have been ordered to suspend operations and thousands have been evacuated from the area amid flooding that began over last weekend and was expected to continue this week.
