Calidus Resources, owner of the Warrawoona gold project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, has selected GR Engineering Services as its preferred tenderer for the mine’s process plant and infrastructure construction.
The mining operator, which also chose Macmahon Holdings as its preferred tenderer for open-pit mining, is pushing toward main construction to begin in the first quarter of 2020.
Currently, Calidus is waiting a final investment decision, which is expected to come by the end of the year.
Initial construction has commenced ahead of schedule. It includes base infrastructure, a seven-kilometre access road, a 240-room accommodation village, Telstra communications and a water supply including water bores in preparation for the main project.
Warrawoona is located in the East Pilbara district of the Pilbara Goldfield, about 150 km southeast of Port Hedland and approximately 25 km southeast of Marble Bar.
