BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) has extended Thiess' contract to provide mining services for its Caval Ridge coal project in Queensland, Australia.
The A$110 million project includes the operation and maintenance of three 600-tonne excavator fleets that will move additional overburden at the mine site. The deal, which is effective in December, adds 12 months to its existing contract.
“This contract extension builds on our relationship with BMA and reinforces our commitment to work with our clients to safely position their operations for optimal efficiency, productivity and cost performance,” said CIMIC Group CEO Juan Santamaria.
Thiess is the mining services provider of CIMIC Group.
Caval Ridge, which produces hard coking coal in the northern Bowen Basin, produces 5.5 million tonnes annually.
