India-based engineering and digital technology firm Cyient recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Australian company Decipher to help the latter organisation roll out its cloud mining platform for the monitoring of tailings and rehabilitation.

Cyient said in a statement last week that the collaboration will enable mining companies across the globe to meet regulatory compliance and monitoring guidelines for the world’s more than 3,500 currently active tailings storage facilities.

While facility failures often result in uncontrolled releases of water, waste material and by-products, thus raising a significant environmental risk, the cloud mining platform allows miners to replace manual processes and siloed data with a more robust, secure cloud platform.

Cyient and subsidiary IG Partners will oversee the sales, implementation and support of the solution.

“Decipher’s end-to-end solution and deep understanding of TSF monitoring and governance, combined with Cyient’s technical depth and global reach, will bring immense value to our mining customers,” said Cyient sector head for mining Herman Kleynhans.

Decipher CEO Anthony Walker added” “The remarkable strides taken by the Global Industry Tailings Standard in challenging and leading the industry needs the support and systems that Decipher can deliver.”

Cyient was formerly known as Infotech Enterprises.
