Following two years of development work, Griffin Mining said it is now in possession of the third stage Zone III Project Final Acceptance Permit (PFA) for the Caijiaying zinc-gold-lead mine in the Heibei Province in China.
Officials at the mine northwest of Beijing said the new permit will allow it to extend its underground mineable ore zone, resulting in the potential for 1.1 million tonnes yearly beginning in 2021.
This represents a 27% increase in annual production versus 2020, during which it extracted 820,000 tonnes.
“The successful securing of the third stage Zone III PFA is a quantum-step achievement for the company as it provides a solid production foundation on which the Caijiaying mine can sustainably continue to increase the zinc-gold ore production profile to its already completed 1.5-mtpa processing facilities,” said Griffin Mining chairman Mladen Ninkov.
“We now await the granting of the new Zone II mining licence to increase the production profile even further and fulfil the promise recognized by the shareholders by the company’s initial discovery at Caijiaying.”
