Weir Minerals has tackled the common issue of large particle handling with its newest product, the Multiflo Mudflo hydraulic submersible slurry pump designed for abrasive applications.

The Multiflo Mudflo pump combines the Warman MGS pump end, Multiflo CB32 hydraulic cutters and ESCO excavation teeth for efficient pumping, and features a hydraulically driven wet-end which has been specifically designed to efficiently, safely reprocess and relocate tailings ponds, maintain water retention dams and manage slimes and sludge ponds. 

In addition, the company’s Ultrachrome A05 chrome alloy impeller ensures high wear resistance; a specially engineered suction strainer minimises clogging risk. The new release is capable of pumping between 150 and 1,200 m3 per hour, up to 82 m head.

Added Geoff Way, Weir Minerals dewatering specialist: “It is not uncommon for sites to use a combination of pumps, shovels, excavators and trucks for dredging applications. When one of our long-time partners in Indonesia contacted us about developing a custom solution for the slurry build-up in their sumps, we knew we could provide a better solution.”

Multiflo Mudflo can be retrofitted to competitor OEM equipment using a quick-hitch plate attachment. It can also be assembled on land, eliminating the safety risks associated with assembling pumps over water. 

The new pump will be available globally beginning in July.
