Bardoc Gold, developer of a project of the same name in Western Australia, has selected GR Engineering Services as its preferred contractor for the building of the site’s processing facility.

The two have inked a letter of intent, with financial details not released, for an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract that includes the facility and associated infrastructure for the project near Kalgoorlie.

Bardoc is projected to have a resource of 3.07 million ounces, but the company said a preliminary analysis of the property returned a strong potential for the mine to increase its production from an average 136,000 oz/year over the initial five years.

It noted it will be working closely with GR to complete the optimisation study for the processing facility’s relocation to Aphrodite and an inclusion of a flotation circuit. It is targeting the end of the year to make a final decision on its investment.

“We are ramping up on every front with drilling under way to grow the inventory and mine life, a study on increasing production and cash-flow significantly, and now the award of preferred tenderer status to GR for construction of the plant,” Bardoc CEO Rob Ryan said.

“The appointment of GR Engineering marks another key step in the development of the project and establishes an important relationship with a leading design and construction group. We look forward to working with the [GR Engineering] team over the coming weeks and months.”
