Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) recently finalised a cooperation agreement with Hitachi’s central Asia specialized equipment provider, Eurasian Machinery, for the supply of machines, which represent one of the largest deals in the history of Kazakhstan.
The deal includes 12 Hitachi EH4000 AC-3 dump trucks and two Hitachi EX5600E hydraulic excavators for the Kacharsky open-pit iron ore operation, part of the ERG Sokolov-Sarybai Mining Production Association, that will be delivered by the end of this year.
Ten years of spares and components supply is also included in the scope, as is service work and construction of service infrastructure to perform it.
It is one of the largest deals for the purchase of mining equipment in the 30 years of Kazakhstan's independence, and the new units will be ERG’s largest and most efficient.
Combined, up to 50 pieces of industrial equipment will be purchased under the signed contract. Financial details were not made available, though it is known the purchase is part of major reconstruction at the Kacharsky open-pit mine to ramp up production totals.
“The safety of the equipment and the comfort of the personnel working on it are priority principles in the choice of technology for our enterprises; it is what ensures smooth operation and the implementation of the production plan. We are pleased that our partners have made the delivery terms as convenient as possible for us … in total, the contract provides for the delivery of up to 42 dump trucks and six excavators," said Ilmir Masgutov, ERG chief commercial officer.
