Corum Group has now entered the mining market of India with its new contract to supply a mechanized longwall complex to Coal India’s Bharat Coaling Coal for its Moonidih mine.
The mixed-OEM longwall equipment to be supplied includes 149 DTM 20/43 roof support sections manufactured by Corum DrMZ; longwall, gate end and belt conveyor equipment manufactured by Corum Svitlo Shakhtaria, an Eickhoff shearer, KAMAT pumping stations and electrical equipment.
The contract was signed at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of India, New Delhi. The operation of the complex is expected to commence in early 2023 and is expected to increase production to 2.5 million tonnes annually.
Corum Group said it will send a team of its specialists to India for six months to help train miners on the use of the equipment.
The Moonidih operation is planning to mine for at least another nine years, a Bharat official said.
Coal India, as the largest coal mining company in the world, has an annual production of more than 600 million tonnes. It owns 345 mines: 151 underground, 172 open and 22 mixed, along with 13 coal preparation plants with a total capacity of 35.38 Mt/y.
