Canada-based Silvercorp Metals has provided an update on the construction plan and progress of its new flotation mill and tailings storage facility at the Ying Mining District in Henan Province, China.

Silvercorp YingSince unveiling plans last year, Silvercorp has made progress in several areas of the construction process. It negotiated agreements with the local community to lease 123.46 hectares of land, and completed and filed the environmental assessment and safety assessment reports for the TSF with the local county government. The company also said that it has drafted reports for the new 3,000-tonne-per-day mill, which will be finalized pending completion of the preliminary engineering design. 

Additionally, Silvercorp has completed 1,738 of 3,300 metres of foundation engineering survey drilling with seven drill rigs currently on site. It has also initiated contractor selection to construct 5,100 metres of drain tunnels at the TSF.

The updated budget for the projects are estimated to be approximately US$29.8 million for the new flotation mill and US$38.0 million for the TSF. Silvercorp said it expects construction of the new mill will be completed by the end of 2023, and Phase 1 of the TSF by the end of 2024.

The Ying Mining District encompases six underground mines.
