Five operators across Australia and Papua New Guinea (PNG) have signed off on new contracts and deal extensions with engineering group Monadelphous with a combined price tag of A$230 million.

monadelphous1The Perth-based company first confirmed a deal with Rio Tinto for shutdown works at the Greater Tom Price operation in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. The scope of work includes upgrades and modifications to the customer’s existing process plant infrastructure at the Western Turner Syncline Phase 2 project.

The work is expected to be completed in the second half of this year.

The second deal is in New South Wales, where Monadelphous has secured a multi-disciplinary construction services contract with Tronox Mining Australia in Broken Hill. That work, too, is expected to be completed in the second half of 2022.

In PNG, the firm has been awarded a new contract with Newcrest to provide engineering, procurement and construction services on the CCD 3 and 4 Refurbishment Project at Lihir Island.

The scope of work includes a major overhaul of two tanks associated with the operation’s gold production facilities, which will begin in June and should wrap up by the middle of next year.

The final contracts in the package include a three-year contract extension with Synergy in Western Australia for operation and maintenance services at Synergy’s Muja Power Station in Collie; a two-year extension to provide maintenance, turnarounds and brownfields modifications at a customer’s offshore liquefied natural gas facility; and, in Queensland, a three-year contract with Origin to provide turnaround and shutdown support services at the coal seam gas upstream facilities for Australia Pacific LNG’s operations.

In addition to its headquarters office in Perth, Monadelphous has offices, projects, facilities and workshops across Australia and in China, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea, Chile and the Philippines.
