Vista Gold Corp. said it has successfully completed the exploration drilling program at its Mt Todd gold project in Northern Territory, Australia. The program’s results demonstrate resource growth potential within a 5.4-kilometre trend extending immediately north from the Batman pit, including delineation of four highly prospective exploration targets.

“When appropriate, future drilling can be undertaken to efficiently drill out these targets and define additional gold resources,” said Frederick H. Earnest, president and CEO of Vista Gold. He added that based on the recent program’s results, the company believes “there is opportunity for significant resource growth and extension of the Mt Todd mine life.”

Earnest said the primary purpose of the program was to demonstrate that the “Batman, Golf-Tollis, and Quigleys deposits are part of the same system, linked by mineralized structures,” which it did confirm.

Mt Todd is Vista gold’s flagship asset, and is expected to become one of the top five gold producers in Australia. The recently completed feasibility study resulted in a 7 million ounce gold reserve and a 16-year mine life.
