As part of the study, Metso Outotec will perform a techno-economic assessment to integrate its Circored technology, which uses hydrogen as its only reductant source, into TNG’s innovative TIVAN process that provides for the extraction of high-quality products from titanomagnetite ore bodies.

Metso Outotec said it has been granted this assignment following positive test work performed for TNG. Now, the company will further define the process flowsheet for the Mount Peake project and prepare a preliminary capital cost and operating cost (+/-30%) for a Circored plant.

The Mount Peake project is a strategic metals asset, located in the Northern Territory, Australia, approximately 230 kilometres north of Alice Springs.
