FLSmidth has received an order worth DKK 330 million (about US$44.2 million) for the supply of an overland conveyor system to a large copper-gold mine in southeast Asia.
While the supplier declined to identify the customer, it noted the order follows a prior one from the same site earlier this year for two gearless SAG mills, two gearless ball mills and thickener technology.
Booked in Q322, the pit-to-plant system is over 5 kilometres long and has gearless technology. The OLC will deliver the ore from the pit to the new FLSmidth SAG and ball mills at the process plant.
The conveying system is part of the newly acquired tk Mining portfolio, FLSmidth officials said, and should offer a significant reduction of OPEX due to the gearless drive technology via less energy and less maintenance alongside greater availability.
“This overland conveyor system order not only continues our robust relationship with this customer, but it also demonstrates the strength of our portfolio following the acquisition of the tk Mining business,” group CEO Mikko Keto said. “This is evidence that FLSmidth is a global leader in overland conveyors and gearless drive technology. The customer will benefit from our full flowsheet coverage, and we are proud to have provided the majority of the equipment to this mine site expansion.”
The supplier added that the new order also underscores its MissionZero ambition to enable customers to mine in a more sustainable manner.
