Metso Outotec has been awarded orders from Albemarle Lithium and OZ Minerals for operations in Australia.

Albemarle Lithium has ordered two pyro processing and comminution lines for its Kemerton lithium hydroxide processing plant in Western Australia. Commissioning and ramp up of two similar pyro process lines is currently taking place at the plant. 

The scope of delivery consists of rotary calciner kilns and coolers, Premier ball mills, acid roast indirect rotary kilns and coolers for the pyro processing lines, as well as advisory services for installation and commissioning. 

Over 90% of the approximately EUR55 million order value is booked in Metals’ fourth-quarter orders received and the rest in Minerals’ orders received.

Separately, OZ Minerals has ordered key minerals processing technologies for its copper-nickel West Musgrave Project in Western Australia. 

The order, whose value was not disclosed, includes an MP1250 cone crusher renowned for its high capacity and low maintenance, as well as Planet Positive classified flotation units and high-rate thickeners. 

It is booked to Minerals’ fourth-quarter 2022 orders received.
