Ok Tedi Mining said Kedi Ilimbit has been appointed the company’s managing director and chief executive officer, following an international search campaign and a thorough assessment of candidates.
Ilimbit was originally employed by the Papua New Guinean miner from 1995 to 2004. Prior to returning to the company in 2015, he worked in senior and managerial roles at various mines in Australia including Blackwater, Peak Downs, Saraji, Prominent Hill, Cannington and Koolyanobbing.
Since his return, Ilimbit has worked in mine maintenance, processing, asset management, and operations and community support. He has been acting CEO of the company since 8 March.
“The board looks forward to working with Kedi and the leadership team to ensure the continuing success of Ok Tedi and the satisfaction of all our stakeholders’ expectations,” said Chairman Jeffrey Innes.
