Drilling by Barisan Gold Corporation continues to extend the high-grade zone at its Upper Tengkereng gold-copper porphyry prospect in Aceh Province of North Sumatra.
Since mid-July, Barisan Gold has embarked on an 18-month drill program with the objective of producing a maiden mineral resource estimate in accordance with NI 43-101 that will cover the high-grade zone identified near-surface in the south-central part of the deposit at Upper Tengkereng.
The first part of the drill program, which is ongoing, consists of delineating the boundaries of the high-grade zone whereas the second part of the drill program is anticipated to consist of a more grid-like drilling pattern to enable calculation of the maiden resource.
Assay results have been received for the first three holes of this program and the key intersections are: 66 metres from 148 metres @ 0.8 grams/tonne gold and 0.4% copper; 108 metres from 336 metres @ 0.6 grams/tonne gold and 0.3% copper; and 412 metres from 212 metres @ 0.9 grams/tonne gold and 0.5% copper, including 100 metres from 498 metres @ 1.6 grams/tonne gold and 0.7% copper. This is the highest-grade 100 metre intercept drilled to date at Upper Tengkereng.
Drilling has continued to extend the high-grade zone with one hole pushing the boundaries in a northerly direction and another hole in a southerly direction. The latter hole in particular returned some of the highest grade intercepts to date.
“Upper Tengkereng continues to return spectacular assays for us,” says Barisan Gold’s chief executive officer Alex Granger. “One hole was drilled away from the identified high-grade zone in a south-easterly direction and, not only extended the high-grade zone in that direction, but also returned the highest-grade 100-metre intercept. Both holes have extended the high-grade zone by at least 300 metres on a southeast-northwest basis and we have yet to identify the true length of that zone on that axis.”
Drilling continues with another hole having recently been completed and another under way.
Barisan Gold owns and operates two gold and gold-copper properties in Aceh Province, namely the Barisan gold-copper porphyry belt and the Abong epithermal gold project.
