The Global Mining Association of China (GMAC) has a new executive manager in Isabelle Song who has taken over the role from Gillian Peng who held the role from GMAC’s formation.
GMAC chairman Peter Arkell says Isabelle Song is no stranger to the challenges facing the international community in China, having worked in Regent Coal and RH Mining. He says GMAC is very fortunate to have another executive manager who has been so involved with the mining community and familiar with the issues.
“GMAC is a member-based association and we urge all members to do their best to make Isabelle Song welcome and give her support.”
The outcome of the election of the new GMAC Committee for 2015/16 was announced at the GMAC Annual General Meeting earlier this year. Since then the new committee has met and the executive for the coming year was appointed.
There was a large field of candidates who put their names forward for the committee elections.
The new executive is Peter Arkell chairman, Chris Welton deputy chairman, Damian Brice-Houseman treasurer. The committee is Victor Xie, Sun Yonglian, Helen Yuan, John Johnson and David Jarvis.
“The committee is the representative body of GMAC. But the value and power of the association is the membership base. Please always feel most welcome to make a contribution or to have your say,” Peter Arkell says.
GMAC is the representative body for both companies and individuals within the international mining community in China. Its main goals focus on advocacy, networking, representation and support.
