Centerra Gold regrets to report a fatality at its Kumtor Gold Project in the Kyrgyz Republic. The individual, a mill employee, was fatally injured while working on the night shift on January 24 at the ore conveyor in the Kumtor mill.

In a statement Centerra said an internal investigation had been started and the Kyrgyz police and relevant regulatory authorities had been contacted.

It said that Kumtor management was cooperating with the Kyrgyz regulatory authorities to determine the cause of the accident.

“Centerra and Kumtor are deeply saddened by this event and extend our deepest condolences to the individual’s family, friends and colleagues,” said Centerra’s chief executive officer Scott Perry.
