Resource infill and extension drilling being completed as part of feasibility studies on Asiamet Resources’ Beruang Kanan Main (BKM) copper deposit in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, continues to substantially de-risk the resource which underpins the project. The work is also improving the project’s potential economics.

The ongoing infill drilling is confirming excellent internal continuity of high grade copper mineralisation at the BK044 Zone of the BKM project.

New copper mineralisation has been intersected outside current BKM resource envelope indicating potential for further extensions to the resource.

A total of 93 holes for 9050 metres of diamond core drilling have been completed and three holes are in progress. Asiamet has received the results from another nine holes which were drilled in the northern part of the BKM deposit.

Better results include: 93 metres from 8.5 metres @ 0.72% copper, including 7 metres @ 1.03%, 12 metres @ 1.57%, 13 metres @ 1.18% and 4 metres @ 1.27%; 67 metres from 20 metres @ 0.63%, including 20 metres @ 1.12%; 47 metres from 77 metres @ 0.68%, including 2 metres @ 1.11%, 2 metres @ 1.03%, 7 metres @ 1.59% and 3 metres @ 1.37%; 58.1 metres from 3 metres @ 0.48%, including 4 metres @ 1.04%; and 75 metres from 0 metres @ 0.43%, including 4 metres @ 0.84% and 2 metres @ 1.12%.

A further 25 holes for 1950 metres are planned and an updated resource estimate incorporating all of the 2016-2017 drilling will be prepared shortly thereafter.

The results will be incorporated into the ongoing feasibility study to refine and potentially improve the project’s already favourable economics.

Asiamet’s chief executive officer Peter Bird says, “The goal of the drilling campaign is to upgrade and expand the mineral resources at the BKM deposit and we are very pleased with the geometry of the mineralisation and both the lateral and vertical continuity.

“Several additional strategic and high value targets outside of the current resource envelope are also being targeted for drill testing.

“In addition to continuing to communicate progress upon Asiamet’s feasibility study and other corporate initiatives, we greatly look forward to an updated resource estimate as the current campaign nears its completion.”
