Australian gold miner Evolution Mining has deployed U.S.-headquartered Aspen Technology’s Mtell software at its Mungari operations to help mitigate unplanned downtime and to improve performance at its plant.
The Western Australia mine first conducted offline testing of the software on multiple pieces of equipment at two of its key sites prior to deploying it online in “Live Mode,” according to the miner.
Specifically, Aspen’s Mtell mines both historical and real-time operational and maintenance data and identifies failure signatures that come before an asset degrades or breaks down. It can also predict future failures and prescribe actions to mitigate or solve problems via predictive and prescriptive maintenance.
Mungari General Manager Greg Walker said Evolution’s Data Enabled Business Improvement (DEBI) program has achieved excellent results, and it hopes adding the software will help it to achieve even further boosts in asset availability.
Mungari, located near Kalgoorlie, produced 133,388 ounces over FY2020.
